This is a senior level role, responsible for leading the full HR function while ensuring compliance, workforce effectiveness, and alignment with Group strategy across the CARICOM region.
This role is designated for local employment and does not include relocation or work-permit sponsorship.
Your Challenge…
- Lead and manage the full HR function across country and Caricom region, ensuring legal compliance, operational effectiveness, and alignment with Group HR frameworks.
- Ensure full compliance with Suriname Labour Law, employment regulations, immigration requirements, and statutory obligations.
- Monitor labour-law developments and advise Management on risks, implications, and corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to Group HR policies, ISO 9001 / 14001 / 45001 requirements, and HSSEQ-related people processes.
- Maintain accurate, secure, and audit-ready personnel records, aligned with GDPR principles and document-control standards.
- Lead or support HR, ISO, and client audits, implementing corrective action plans where required.
Workforce Planning, Recruitment & Mobilisation
- Lead annual workforce planning aligned with operational and project requirements.
- Oversee the full recruitment and selection cycle for local and expatriate roles, including job descriptions, advertising, screening, interviews, and offers.
- Coach managers in competency-based interviewing and recruitment best practices.
- Ensure timely onboarding, mobilisation, permits, medicals, and fitness-for-work compliance.
Performance, Training & Development
- Ensure the performance appraisal cycle is completed within Group timelines and standards.
- Guide managers on KPI setting, behavioural assessments, and effective performance discussions.
- Review performance ratings for consistency, fairness, and calibration.
- Develop and manage the annual Training & Competency Plan, tracking training hours, costs, certification validity, and compliance.
- Identify skills gaps and succession readiness for critical roles.
Employee Lifecycle Management
- Oversee onboarding, contract issuance, probation reviews, extensions, and workforce changes.
- Strengthen employee engagement throughout the employment lifecycle.
- Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews, final pay, asset return, and separation documentation.
Payroll, Compensation & Benefits
- Oversee and validate monthly payroll, ensuring accuracy and statutory compliance.
- Ensure overtime, leave, allowances, and deductions are correctly recorded.
- Review and authorise payroll reports prior to submission to Group HR and Finance.
- Maintain HRIS data accuracy (PaySpace), including grades, salaries, benefits, leave, and disciplinary records.
- Manage medical insurance and benefits administration, renewals, and employee queries.
Employee Relations, Culture & Engagement
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters.
- Lead disciplinary investigations, hearings, and outcomes in line with local legislation.
- Facilitate grievance resolution with fairness, consistency, and transparency.
- Promote a culture of respect, accountability, inclusivity, and teamwork.
- Support wellness initiatives, HR communications, and engagement programmes.
CSR, ESG & HR Reporting
- Lead local CSR and community-engagement initiatives, aligned with Group sustainability commitments.
- Build relationships with local communities, educational institutions, NGOs, and authorities.
- Track HR and CSR KPIs for ESG / CSRD reporting where applicable.
- Produce monthly HR analytics and dashboards, supporting informed decision-making.
- Drive HR digitalisation and workflow improvements using HRIS and automation tools.
Who Are You…
- Holder of an MQF Level 6 (or equivalent) bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong working knowledge of Suriname employment law, immigration processes, and payroll governance.
- Experience managing the full HR lifecycle in a project-based, operational, or industrial environment.
- Confident in handling employee relations, disciplinary matters, and sensitive cases.
- Highly organised, analytical, and detail-oriented, with strong reporting capability.
- Proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems (PaySpace / Indigo preferred).
- Fluent in spoken and written English and Dutch.
- Ethical, discreet, and trusted to handle confidential information.
- In possession of a valid driving licence.
- Legally entitled to live and work locally without employer sponsorship.
