During the biweekly Safety Stand Down, our team in Malta held an awareness session and practical demonstration on Emergency First Aid and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
Medical emergencies can happen anywhere and at any time. In cases of sudden cardiac arrest, every second counts. An AED is a life-saving device that can significantly increase the chances of survival when used quickly and correctly alongside CPR.
During the session, the team had the opportunity to:
-Learn the fundamentals of emergency first aid response
-Understand when and how to use an AED
-Participate in a hands-on demonstration of the equipment
-Build confidence in responding to a medical emergency
Having AEDs available in the workplace is essential, but equally important is ensuring that employees are familiar with their location, purpose, and operation. Awareness and preparedness can make the difference between life and death in a critical situation.
