Our Malta team had their biweekly STOP for safety gathering and today’s topic was the safe usage of web slings emphasizing how important it is that synthetic web slings are regularly and properly inspected. Even seemingly minor damage to a sling can significantly reduce its capacity to hold or lift objects and increases the chance that it may fail during use. To detect possible damage, one must perform a visual inspection of the entire web sling and feel along the sling’s entire length prior to every use. Some damage may be felt more than seen.
At the end of the session one of our personnel Anthony Micallef was awarded for proactive reporting concerning the storage of containers.
